Venues & Timescsales
Thanks for clicking on to another instalment of our 'Spotlight On' series. This post we are focusing on all things Venue and hope the venues we showcase will provide with some much-needed inspiration for planning your big day.
Venues are probably in the top five of important things to get sorted for your big day and almost certainly one of the first things you should be looking to book.
Popular venues can often be booked 18 months - 24 months in advance and as such we would recommend finding your dream venue sooner rather than later and getting a date locked in and secured. Many venues only need you to pay a deposit so don't worry too much about landing yourself with a huge bill straight away!
Of course, there is the option of a religious ceremony (which can be equally as beautiful) but it's becoming more and more popular to have a non-religious ceremony and that's what our Spotlight is going to focus on today. We've handpicked our 3 favourite Kent-based venues for you to take a look at. All are award-winning and I think you will easily be able to see why!
Our #01 - Cooling Castle Barn

One of our favourite venues in the South East has to be Cooling Castle Barn. You can check them out at Cooling Castle Barn.
With stunning original turrets and a stunning character barn, this venue really does have the wow factor. The day runs smoothly through the separate parts of the venue with a breakfast room and bar which can be used for pre-wedding drinks (and the following morning for those staying onsite), the ceremony room and then the main barn for the wedding breakfast and evening entertainment. Another fantastic thing about this venue is the onsite accommodation which has a perfect bridal suite for getting ready and 15 luxury guest bedrooms which are super comfy after a long day and evening of celebration. All overnight guests also get breakfast the following morning which is a really nice touch. Best of all they only have one event a day at this venue which means no sharing the facilities and grounds with anyone else. It's completely private.
Our #02 - The Old Kent Barn

With this venue winning countryside venue of the year 2020 it should come as no surprise that it's in our Top 3 for Kent. You can check them out at The Old Kent Barn.
The customer service at this venue is second to none and has it even has it's own events team to help you have a seamless wedding day. With different package options, this venue has some good choices available to give you the perfect day. Their outdoor ceremony option is a massive thumbs up from us for the UK weather as the guest seating areas have a roof so although you are completely outdoors you still don't have to worry about the weather which is amazing! Thinking of getting ready at the venue? They've got that covered too with air-conditioned luxury dressing rooms complete with an ensuite with shower, dressing gowns, towels, digital TV, sound system, fridge, makeup chairs and of course plenty of mirrors to make sure you are looking your best.
It's also possible (which is a bonus during UK lockdowns the ability to do a virtual tour of the venue via their website which is a really useful feature for those not able to visit in person at the moment but still wanting to browse some venues.
Our #03 - The Orangery Maidstone
(Photos are from theorangerymaidstone.com)
Whether it's the lake or the stunning waterfall in the grounds this venue truly does boast some stunning gardens. Again another exclusive venue that only has one event a day so you don't have to share the grounds with anyone else.
With a separate ceremony room from the meal, bar and evening proceedings this really is a picture-perfect venue that prides itself on high standards of service from start to finish. You can check them out via their website The Orangery Maidstone.
Weather permitting you also have the option for an outdoor ceremony with the venue Gazebo providing stunning views over the grounds. Again, their Wisteria suite provides a stunning and dedicated dressing room which is available for hire and gives you a lovely setting to get ready for the big day. Unfortunately, there are no shower facilities but everything else such as dressing tables, mirrors and comfy furniture has you covered.
We hope this post in our Spotlight series gave you an insight into a few of our favourite Kent venues and what they can have to offer. We certainly recommend you check out their websites too for further detail on what they offer.
